Jamal ClarkePresident 2016-2018I am a 3rd year Politics and International Relations student, and very proud to be the founder and President of the club. I was a keen athlete in my school years, mainly competing in Long Jump, as Ealing Borough Champion for 2 years running. After a long hiatus, I now specialise in 60m, 100m and 200m, with a bit of Long Jump on the side, holding the club records for these events. My personal aims this year are to get into the semi finals at BUCS, and keep on improving my times. I vow to run the club smoothly, and lead us to success! I am known for my hardline approach, so if you want to improve and represent the club, make sure you don't miss training!

Chris AounVice President 2016-2017I am a 4th year Master's student studying Renewable Energy; as Vice President of the club I am very happy to have the opportunity to get as many people involved in the sport as possible. I have always had a passion for sports, growing up playing basketball, football and then picking up athletics to compliment those sports. I am currently training as a sprinter, aiming to compete in the 400m event. Athletics can often be regarded as an individual sport but I want to ensure that it is a fun club with a strong team identity so that everyone can be involved!

Jordan clayCross country captain 2016-2018I am a 2nd year Conservation Biology and Ecology student and have been involved in athletics competing and coaching since I was 10. I enjoy running laps on the track but I especially love getting muddy in cross country! I ran for Bedfordshire when I was younger; now I represent Cornwall Seniors. My personal aims this year are to finish in the top 100 in BUCS Cross Country, and to beat my dad's marathon time of 2:27. As XC Captain, I want to encourage more people to take up long distance running (the best discipline), so that they can experience the beautiful views and trails of Falmouth!

Hakeem BUgeSOcial Secretary 2016-2017I am a 4th Master's in Renewable Energy Engineering student; as social secretary I take pride in making the club's activities fun and as inclusive as possible. I organise social activities throughout the year which provide an opportunity for all members to familiarise themselves with each other in different social circumstances. My interest in athletics was sparked at university and I train as a sprinter over short distances (100m, 200m). My ambition for the club is to have it grow in size and for the members to continually regard themselves as part of a family.

Charlotte MatthewsSocial Sec 2020-2022I am a third year Sportswear Design student at Falmouth University and have been running for the majority of my life at a range of standards and events. While I am currently taking a break for competitions and focusing on running for the enjoyment, I have a variety of experience from park runs to cross countries and elite level triathlons; I am always available for advise or reassurance to those thinking of competing, whatever the event! I will be a welcoming face to new members and casual runners, as well as inspiring that determined edge in more competitive runners. Whether you’re after a running partner to keep you going on the social runs or a motivator from the top of a hill session, I will be on hand for anything and everything! I am keen that everyone, beginner or experienced, should be welcomed into the society and made to feel they genuinely belong here.

Ottilie brightPresident 2021-2022I'm a second year student studying Conservation Biology and Ecology. My main events are Triathlon, X-Country, Long distance running and pretty much anything I can get stuck into. I have been competing in Triathlon and X-Country since I was 14. I have competed at a regional and national level, coming 2nd in the London Triathlon series and have run for London in the English schools XC, where we came 3rd as a team. I have a competitive streak, but I love a social run and going out with friends and finishing off a fun run at the beach. When I am not running around the place you will find me attempting to learn the ukulele.

Tom GandeecROSS COUNTRY CAPTAIN 2021-2022I'm a third year Zoology student. In the past, I've competed in a range of sports including football, triathlon and swimming but decided to settle on running which I've been doing for the majority of my life. I've competed at county and national levels in both individual and team cross country competitions. I prefer x-country but I'm more than happy to compete on the track too. I particularly enjoy Parkruns as they are a great opportunity to go for a run with runners of all abilities and there's always one nearby. I'm really looking forward to running with FXU Athletics again now we're all back in Penryn.

mIRIAM lEYSHORNsOCIAL rUNNING cOORDINATOR 2021-2022
I’m a second year English Literature student, and have lived in Falmouth my whole life. I’ve been running since I was little, but only discovered that I love running long distances in 2018. I’ve completed several local races including the Falmouth Half Marathon and Stormforce 10 miler (which were my favourites). I also ran my first 30k this summer, and now have my heart set on a marathon next year. I’m predominantly a road runner, although I love to go out and explore all the overgrown paths near where I live. I’m excited to encourage more people into running, whatever their ability, by offering gentler paced short and long social runs. There may be cake involved…
