PRESident 2022/23Amber Faull
I am a second year Conservation Biology and Ecology student with a long history in sport as a competitive runner and swimmer, competing at inter-county and national levels. I compete mainly in the middle distance events and this year I’m aiming to add the 1500m to my (very short) list of club records for FXU AC. I have a pretty serious competitive streak stemming from a background of 5am starts and 17 hour training weeks but since joining FXU athletics I’ve come to appreciate the social and wellbeing benefits of running more. As the president this year I’m looking forward to making a fool out of myself in front of a whole new group of people and hopefully inspiring some of them to join the society in the process, competitive or otherwise!

Cross country CAptainSasha Clark
I am a second year Geography student and I discovered my love for running at an early age through triathlon. I have been gaining competitive experience ever since, competing in my local Cross Country league, on to National races and road relays. I quickly realised that my strengths did not lie in track races but in the longer-distances so I am now focusing on Cross Country, 10k road races, and Half Marathons. My first (and hilliest) Half Marathon was Falmouth this year, which I hope even more FXU members will get involved in next year. Taking on the role of Cross Country Captain, I hope to spread my passion for hills, mud, and racing in a friendly team environment. I hope to demonstrate that Cross Country is much more than running in a field - the opportunities for exploring new places and team bonding are endless! I look forward to seeing FXU smash upcoming XC fixtures!

SOCIAL RUN COORDINATOREthan Brooks
I am a second year Geography student who is relatively new to running. I enjoy running the incredible routes around Falmouth and I am always looking to explore and find new routes which not many people know about. I'm excited to share these with everyone as running as a group is much better than running solo.

social run coordinatorEMMA STEEDMANI'm a third-year Marine Biology student at Exeter with an affinity for long-distance running, both on road and trail. I started running in secondary school and quickly fell in love with the sport and the adventure of it. Although I compete in 5km+ cross country races for the club, my preferred distance is 13.1 miles; I've run in half marathons both in Cornwall and at home in Sussex. Although road running is fast and fun, it's also nice to slow down and enjoy nature with trail running, and by running trails up and down the country I've developed a soft spot for slowing down every now and then. This year, I hope to encourage a range of abilities to try running around the beautiful Cornish countryside whilst having fun in the company of like-minded people.
I've been vegan since I started university, and am passionate about food and fuelling an athletic lifestyle consciously. I would love to educate more members of the club this year on not only being a sustainable runner but also nourishing the body with the necessary nutrients it needs to run fast! |
